I was just about to cancel my O2 contract, and they

went into the usual routines of special offers, but this one sounds insane

    Here's the info:

    Hi Marcos,

Further to our conversation, I would like to confirm the following information as requested.

    The Leisure 400 - £8.50 per month

This gives you 400 'off peak' minutes per month to use to any O2 mobiles & Local / National Numbers.

Cost of other calls is as follows
    Daytime Local / National - 35p/m
    O2 mobile - 20p/m
    Other mobiles - 50p/m

    Weekend Local / National - 2p/m
    O2 - 2p/m
    Other Mobiles - 30p/m

    Evening Local / National - 2p/m
    O2 - 5p/m
    Other mobiles - 30p/m

Upon upgrading your current contract to a sony ericsson k750i, we would be able to offer you this phone free of charge, with a £90 cashback option (redeemable after your 4th month bill)

If you would like to go ahead with this offer then I can call you back tomorrow to process, or alternatively call back on the same number and we will be able to process your order.
So....i get a free £200 phone, and the line rental is paid back to me after a while too? , how are they making money?

ps. I posted this over at OCUK in case you browse there too.

They will make the money back by you staying with them for another 12 months, it costs them hardly anything to process your calls.

Do you get any text's with that offer?

    So basically its a £12 K750i

There was a guy on another forum i visit who got a contract just to get the phone so its been unused for 12 months. They offered him free line rental for the year with no phone. They were actually ending up paying him £3 to keep the line open!

I guess it means they've got better stats at the end of the year and they're trying to get customers then keep them.....something other networks dont seem so good at

My friend called up to cancel his o2 contract he no longer uses as he works for Orange now, they offered him 20 mins and 20 texts which would be £6 per month so he then put a £72 credit on his account.

So no new phone but no line rental for the next year, mad

I didn't think of that, the credit could be more useful

This is common, when i rang up to cancel they flung all sorts of offers my way, i told them i was switching to Vodafone, obviously they would rather have me with them for another 12 months.

o2 25 standard 12 month contract no promoations at at

normally £16pm save offer of £6pm with either a new handset at current upg price or a £75 resign credit in place of a handset.

This is only normally offered to thoese that are either going to payg or hardly use the phone.

The resign credit has stated is in place of any handset and ties you to the contract for 12 months.

Just to clear that up for some of you
