Uh oh, P800 playing up [How to backup my contact fast]

Well, lets just say it keeps crashing. I *think* that my contact is stored on the phone as opposed to the SIM card. Is there any way to make a copy just in case? [Assuming its still possible]

Darn, all my electronics seems to be dying lately. For my shaver, now my phone =/

You could try syncing it with Outlook or Lotus Notes. Alternatively, there's a backup option in the P800 software.

How about FMA as suggested in some of the W800/K750 threads?

Yea, that'd mean getting a new phone first.. with a different SIM card (unless I can temporarily borrow someone elses phone).

But my next question was: is there anyway I can get a new contract (possibly with a different carrier) and keep my number? I like my current number, there are good deals from onestopphoneshop (I'll probably go for a W800).

[It things doesn't look good for my phone right now, too bad I suppose]

yeah, sure. If the online retailer doesn't let you do this they you will need to call your existing network and get hold of a PUK code (at least it is something like that) then give this to your new network. This can take about a month i think.

Transfering from PAYG O2 to Contract O2 took a week for me.

You can. Just ask your network operator for your PAC (not PUK) code. Give this code to your new operator within 30 days and they'll transfer across the number for you.

Thanks. Would stores like onestopphoneshop deal with it? Like I order, give them the PAC code and they'll ensure that my new pack will just have the same number? Or do I order the phone first, then ask to have my old number replace my new one?

I hope my contract has almost ran out. Not sure if it was due for renewal in October or November...

Another option is to copy them to another device using bluetooth. Thats how I got all my contacts onto my P900 in the first place it should work the other way.

Aaron: Hi Aaron funny seeing you here
