    Minimum contract (PAYG)

I have a Vodafone contract and like to change phones - however, the phone I want (i-mate k-jam) is expensive unless I take out a new line and cancel my old one. I want to keep my number and stay on Vodafone long term.

Can I port my number to say O2 Pay as You Go and then upgrade back to vodafone for the phone I want - and also keep my number?

Should be able to, but youll have to pay out your old contract. You should maybe look at upgrading through vodafone, depending who you speak to you can get a very good deal.

why not take out a new contract, get the best deal going, then ditch the sim and carry on your existing contract? Thats the best, and more importantly the easiest way to get the best deal.

I very much doubt you'll be able to port your number to PAYG...

You can do PAYG porting, but the service providers often charge for it.
I only have experience in going from orange contract to orange PAYG though.

Sorry wasn't clear - I am out of the 12 month contract so free to move or upgrade. Only Vodafone direct don't have the i-mate k-jam. Wanted to go with expansys as they have it but the vodafone price is for new line.

So thinking if possiblt to port to pay as you go then port back to vodafone and treat as a new line with a PAC number to keep the number.
