D500 ... What is the matter with the screen?

My d500 screen appears all sort of blurred, but no cracking seems to have occured, and there was DEFINATELY not any water damage! i took it out of my pocket to find this screen:

Anyone know what could have happened?

I asked my father to bring it to a local store and they quoted him 80 pound for a new screen, but is this really what is the matter? As this shop wasn't a big company (they would probably have charged even more!)

    Its cracked mate

Even the smallest of cracks can cause this, might not be able to see it

You can normally get replacement screens from auction - will void the warranty if you replace it yourself though (should you have any left)
