In the end, the only way for me to copy the MP3 to the phone was to copy one file, remove the USB cable, reconnect the USB cable. And repeat for all 77 MP3s I wanted to add. That was a serious pain the in the neck. I am still not sure whether I am suffering from a faulty memory stick duo, or the dreaded USB bug.
Disc2Phone didn't help. I hear the very latest firmware fixes that. I guess I'll give it a spin in a few days.
It's a good phone otherwise - I am impressed by how long the battery lasts. I played MP3s for 12 hours non-stop when the battery was at 64%, and it was still going.
TooNice have you got the 800 or the 750?
My 1GB memory card has just arrived, put it in, now how do i add MP3's to the card, and not on the phone memory?
If you want to put MP3s on the memory card, either plug the device in via the USB cable (which will give you a new removable drive in windows explorer)
You can then drag and drop files on.
If you have a bluetooth adapter on your pc, you can access the phone using bluetooth from your pc and transfer the files to the memory card that way
The last method is using a USB card-reader with the memorystick adapter that came with the phone so you can read the duo card and transfer files that way - this may be the fastest method
You need to install the Sony USB drivers. Then ignore the Sony software, connect the phone and go into my computer - the phone should show up as removable drive. Navigate to the sounds folder and create a new folder called MP3s (there might already be one there, depending on the firmware version of the phone). Drag and drop the file into there (you can create new folders for each album if you want).
If you want some decent software to backup contacts etc, forget the Sony software and get Floats Mobile Agent.
EDIT: GigiGuru beat me too it :D
Yeah, found it, didn't realise it came up as a drive.
Ive moved a load into the music folder, but somet seems wrong. I create a new folder, for the artist, and drag one song into it ok, when i try to drag another one in, it comes up with an error, and when i go in the folder, there are loads of wierd assed files, all borked.
Also how do i access the songs on my phone? there not in media player.
EDIT. This is what the folder has inside it, and it says it's 74GB, WTF. http://img217.imageshack.us/my.php?i...ntitled4wo.jpg supposed to be the new artist folder?
What the ****?
I dis-connect the phone, and put it back, and all the files i moved into the MP3 folder are gone apart from 3.
I did then put about 5 in, and exited, and now there is only 2 of the 5 i put in????
There all MP3 files btw? WTF.
If i was you, i would back up an photos etc then reformat the card (do it from the phone)
BTW, remeber you have to disconnect the phone from USB before the phone can read any updates to the card.
Yeah i think ill format it 2moro. Do i do that like i would a HD, do it in windows?
Also i made a folder for an artist, the folder doesn't seem to come up, it's just the songs. I want to arange all the songs by artist, as ill obviously have quite a few, with a 1GB card.
I'd be interested to know this as well - having a giant list of songs is all very well but it'd be much handier to be able to navigate them by artist/album/etc
You can do it from windows, but Sony recommend you always do it via the phone's menu. I think it's to do with the recreation of some of the system folders, not sure.
Basically its a bit crap. Thats the one thing I hate about my 750 is the difficulty in putting music on it. Never a simple case of drag and drop, usually drag drop, check its on there, re-drag and drop, disconnect phone. All files gone, re-drag and drop, disconnect, some files missing. Give up and listen to the radio!
ben
I have K750i and have found MP3 transfer to always be very reliable and easy, as has everyone else i know who has one. Maybe you have a faulty one?
So how do you get artisit folders, made in the Mp3 folder, to come up in the phone? A little help, would be nice.:)Quote:

First of all, I think there was something dodgy about my memory stick itself. I get this when I try to copy file larger than 2MB using a memory card reader.
But combined with the error you got earlier (finding random huge folders/files, MP3 not drag and dropping properly), I was very, very tempted to return the phone for a repair/replacement/something. The only way I managed to load music onto my phone was to copy the files one by one. Took over an hour in the end.
A few days ago, I figured out the problem. Google "W800i Memory Stick Bug" or something like that. Basically, the R1N035 firmware, used by many of the recently sold W800i (and I assume k750i) had a bug which caused the problems you described. If you flash the latest firmware, the problem should be gone.
Now I am still wondering whether I should return my memory stick. It kinda bugs me that I can only transfer files larger than 2MB from the phone.
Sweet thanks, ill look into that Firmwhere. How exactly do you flash?Quote:
