Sony Ericsson W800i

Hey guys, well it's definatly time i had a new phone, ive only had one, had it since i was 17and iam 22 now, so it's ancient, lol,it's a Siemens C45.

The 800i really does look awesome, and iam thinking spent big now and get a quality phone, ill keep it for years, so it's gotta be worth it. I will definatly listen to mp3's on it. Iam torn between this and the 750i though, not sure what to get.

Ive seen Sim free 800i's for 280quid, could i buy one of these, and just pop my card in from my C45? or is it to old?

I can't find a W800i on Pay As You Go with 02, only Vodaphone and others. Ive been reading up all day, but im a phone n00b really, heh.

Can a 750i play mp3's, i don't quite see what the 800i has extra, apart from the 512mb stick thing.

it doesnt have anythign extra other than the case is metal, but orange, and slightly different menus. the k750 will play mp3s just as well if you get a big memory stick for it.

have you seen the w900? might be worth the wait.

The 750i can be flashed with the w800i firmware to provide the jukebox mode type thing (play MP3s without turning the phone on). I know that the w800i comes with a 512mb memory stick on contract but I don't know about handset only, its probably part of a brand bundle. Can someone tell me though whether these two phones have the same audio quality (hardware wise)?

Hmm in that case iam looking more at the 750i now, it definatly does look better.

What about the sim card? seems there is more choice with networks on the 750i, so ill just get a 02 PAYG.

Vodafone are doing payg w800i's for £270, which I think is the same price as a sim-free k750i

The 512MB Card is standard on ALL the W800i if their bought normal retail.

Sound quality is exactly the same on both phone. Hardware there are no differences.

I have the k750i flashed to a w800i and noticed no difference in sound quality, Just the mp3 player is better.

Oh I forgot, the W800i comes with some very nice 'bud' headphones! (Basically rebranded sonys!)

I dont know if it is just my ears or something but i found the headphones on my W800i were terrible!
They didnt fit in my ears properly but just kept falling out!
Really started to piss me off so i dont use them anymore.
There is also a neck strap sort of thing that rests on the back of ur neck which is uncomfortable, again this may just be me!
The good thing with the W800i though is that you can use your own headphones anyway whilst still keeping the handsfree ability so this isnt really a problem is it? heh.

Id def get the W800i, im loving it but i personally love all Sony Ericsson phones. Just like the way they work ... menus etc.

Thanks for the help guys, ive found the 750i, for 199, but it;s out of stock, and the link has it for 230, with free handsfree bluetooth, but again out, so waiting for either one.

You would find it cheaper on eBay if your willing to risk it ... prob be a new one on there or obvioulsy a cheaper 2nd hand one.

Whats funny about eBay?
Can still get new stuff on ebay ... (would be unlocked to any network obv.) - payg sim is only a tenner (or free from Orange and o2 at certain times)

I have both phones.

The main difference for me is the inclusion of a 5 channel equalizer on the w800i. Also When playing vids back, on the 750i you have option to set full screen, the same thing is acheived by selecting horizontal on w800i. The 750i looks better, color, sleeker, and nicer camera lens cover. The w800i is nice tho, and the headphones are quite good as the block out ambience and increase bass in ear. Both phones use the same themes. Dont forget though the the 750i is also capable of SD mem.

Its down to your personal taste. Effectively both phones do exactly the same thing.
