Use a higher aperture on your 350D in those sample shots!
It's annoying not being able to make out the screen properly in the third shot :/

So is the V3x one of the hottest phones on the market at the minute?
Upgrade time for me at the end of this month and I think the V3x could be the phone for me. I wonder how good of an offer 3 would be willing to give me as a new customer![]()
I will hang on for Sony Ericssons harddrive walkman phone.
I got 11 months half price on a 600 x-net minute, 12 month contract from 3. If only they would hurry up and connect me.Originally Posted by Lead_Head

Worms (okay addon at $20)
Flawless movie playback at a much higher resolution than that stupid razor.

Just to update on the V3x i got a few weeks back.
I got it on about the 10th and 15 days later it was up for return. The reasons being:
- The front screen backlight failed in 8 days
- The missed calls menu never opened
- The Phone book took 2 minutes to open from turn on (about 400 numbers)
- Texting was fast at first but then seemed to get slower and slower to the point where i could have finished the text and sent it and it was still typing the text out on screen.
- During video playback it would reguarly freeze and crash.
- If you closed the lid too hard it would reset itself or white screen for 10 minutes.
- The voice dial never worked
- Some names in the phonebook could never be accesssed. It just went back to the main menu.
- After just a few days the flip was already moving a milimetre either way on its hinge.
- The list goes on...............
I told the guy in the shop that if he sold another one he would be going to a special kind of hell. Thats how much this phone sucked. da.guvna was right
Suffice to say i took a hit on the quality of the contract and changed the phone to a brand new nokia 6280. I have much more faith in this one![]()

Haha, yep, I've experienced all of the above, except for the first 3 in the list....not had those problems.....yet.
My contract is up for renewal soon...thinking of ditching voda and going to O2, but none of the phones on offer really excite me at the moment, which sucks.
I would have thought they would have sorted the problems out especially if the old V3 suffered from them. You would have thought the flagship new model (especially with the new enhanced features) would have sorted the initial issues out before adding more. I wasnt prepared to put up with it though and just paid the extra £50 for a nokia 6280 which is exactly the same size as the motorola but is better in a lot of ways.Originally Posted by da.Guvna
I would recommend giving the V3x a miss until it has some software updates although tbh i think it has some flaws that can never be sorted by firmware upgrades. Nokia how i missed you![]()

Sad to say it, but Nokia are probably the best the market has to offer (says me with a Sanyo 750i). I had a 6110 for years from 1998 - never let me down or fall apart. The only problem I did get was a cracked screen, and that was my own fault...
I guess it has a lot to do with the advances being made in functions and designs that are causing some of the phones problems... The market is going far too quickly, making the rush to put out a product more important than the QA - after all, within 18 months of release these phones are all but forgotten!!!
Matt.
You're pretty much on the mark there, in my opinion.Originally Posted by moby_matt

A good software writer who knows the hardware well, can probably get more out of less hardware than a writer with faster stuff. Of course, it's about who gets the new stuff out first, not how good it is![]()
A similar story to graphics cards. Always pushing things ahead, but never finding better ways to use existing hardware like they do for consoles (stop that spitting).Originally Posted by Steve

Matt.
Tbh the problem is the software, Symbian and Microsoft are the only two who seam to have stable mature smart phone platforms.
Hardware wise most phones are seamingly fine.

Trust me when i say the hardware wouldn't have lasted in this case. Anyway i'm glad it broke as the Nokia is way way better.

Why?!? HDD technology in any phone is imo a complete waste of R&D by phone companies. You can buy a 2 gig flash card for almost any phone now, and the prices are plummetting all the time!! (about £70 afaik).Originally Posted by dangerous_dom
If you go down the HDD route you get somethig that's inherently less stable, gives you no upgrade path and is slower to access data??
And if you use flash, chances are you'll get a card that can even be in other devices like your digital camera or PDA...unless you insist on the Sony route when you'll be stuck with proprietary formats that are useless with anything except other Sony kit (sorry tobut that's one of my biggest pet hates
). So you'll have to buy a sony camera and a PSP and a Clie if you want to make use of your Pro Duo.
That said, Sony do make some very nice quality kit and I'm not knocking their hardware quality. I loved my T610. But maybe I've got Ericsson to thank for that![]()
In fact for my new phone I was torn between the K750i (the bright orange W800 looks horrible to me I'm afraid) and the Orange C600 (WM5) and in the end very glad I went for the C600. Like some others here I've had a smartphone for a couple of years now and have been very happily playing whole DVDs on it and sitting with quite a few mp3s and other bits and pieces on the storage card. Add in the decent software base which is improving all the time and it just seems like a far more useful device.
And for those talking about convergence devices I'm split on the issue. I briefly toyed with the idea of an M500 (iMate JAM, QTEK S100 I think) but basically they're just clumsy as a phone. Even my C600 is something you have to get used to, I just think a full PDA phone is a step too far.
They're too big, too bulky and epitomise a 'jack of all trades, master of none' mentality. The fact that I want decent kit is the reason I've got a PDA, a phone and a digital camera. Until all three can be shoehorned into something the size of an iPod Nano without any compromises, I don't think I'll fully embrace convergence![]()
It really annoys me the way that everything is being updated so quickly now, as soon as you buy a new phone. Or more or less any new gadget now, by the time you've shown it around the bloody things been updated again. So just when you think you've got the latest best device out. Every one else is showing there's is one better.
So with your nice new phone that you've just got 3 months ago, is now out of date. But you've got to keep the kin thing for another 9 months with everyone else getting the newer stuff.
Regarding brands, i only ever stick with nokia now. I have a 6230i at the mo. But cant find anything better to replace it with. I aint going any bigger so...
I think it also depends on what you want from a phone. I dont need movies on my phone, as i would prefer to sit in doors with a drink & friends or family & be able to laugh, cry, swear or be amazed with others. The MP3 part is quite useful i spose, but how many songs do you really want to take out with you. 2 Cd's? 4, 6, 10, 20??? how many songs can you listen to in 1 day. If you own 20 Cd's there's probably only 2 that you are really going to enjoy listening to over & over again anyway?
Just my 2 bobs worth...
