    O2 Upgrade Time...

    Hey Guys,

Almost been with o2 for 12 months and I'm wandering what the procedure for getting an upgrade is - ive heard talk of people threatening to leave o2 and then getting upgraded minutes + phone...

I'm currently on 'online 50' (£19/pm) which gives me 50 x-net minutes and 500 texts - but i seem to be using more calls - so something like 500mins/500texts would be great. I half-remember there being a thread with a number to contact o2 on, but searching for 'o2' doesnt work...

I was kinda wanting to get a d600 to replace the d500 which ended up in a pint of beer, does D600+500mins+500texts sound possible?

@Apex - you work for o2 dont you? any tips

    Cheers,
    Mark

and you think am going to give all the secrets away

anyway, the number you need for your (O2 Online) upgs/retentions is 0870 600 7120

The Online500 is £35pm but you can only get this with a Imode or 3g handset so the D600 is a nono m8.

O2 offline did still do the O2 500 up till start of jan where they pulled it from us for business reasons (ie too many dealers giving the tariff to none 3g or imode customers)

if you don't want a free phone, go for a monthly contract, a friend of mine is on one and she gets some pretty good deals every other month or so, and has freedom to change at her whim.

But myself i find the vodafone stop the clock offer un beat able, its worth the 18 month contract, 60mins off peak, costing just 3min, any network. Thats a bargin!

if you don't want a free phone
I *do* want a free phone I'm using a 6230 atm cos my D500 drowned in a pint of beer.. gonna phone them up now and see what happens

    edit:

Ok, They've offered me 200 xnet minutes & 500 texts for £15/pm and then the D600 upgrade is £70... I'll try to flog my D500 on ebay and get some of that £70 back, but I'm pleased with the result

It sems I need to phone 02 up. I'm currently on 100 mins and 50 texts for £25/month.

My contract comes up around now so not sure what to upgrade to. I like the N70, but that'd mean switching to 3G, and all the possible problems of number porting.

I don't like the look of the N80 for some reason or another, it just doesnt seem like a phone and looks too big.

I've got a D500 at the moment and it's a good phone, I just think the D600 is too similar and I want a change.

you can get the n70 on o2, orange and 3 - dont see why number porting would be an issue?

You must be on the old o2 100 tariff, the new o2 (offline) 100 is 100 mins and 100 txts

    at upg you can

    a) 18 month contract that gives 50% more txts and mins for the full 18 months and beon

    b) 12 month contracts, with either 6 months double bundel, 300 combi txts every month for 6 months or 300 extra evening and weekend xnet mins every month for 6 months

as a side note you can get the online 100/200 and offpeak 500 with o2 offline just that

    a) you can not have any other promoations (ie all the above you carn't have)

    b) no subs discounts at all

Can i just say do not get Three (3) mixed up with 3g.

3g is the 3rd generation of network tech.

Porting numbers is easy you just need a pac code, one word of warning you can not port o2 to o2 contract, you can port o2 to o2 payg but not contract, the same is for t-mobile/3/orange/voda.

The main reason for this is that o2 use a system called companion, which both the o2 online and off line customer accounts are located on (o2 online are 100% "companion" o2 offline are a split between compainon/dise and jupiter, with new accounts being allmost 90% on "companion")

Theres nothing stoping you porting to payg then back to a new contract just the time taken to do it

I was on 'online 50' with 50 x-net mins, 500 texts, and i paid £50 for my D500 last year. When i phoned up I asked about this offer (with 9 months @ £17.50, with a free D600). And he said he could offer me 200mins + 500 texts (ie 4x as many minutes as im currently on) for £15 and the D600 for £70 - he said it would be £120 from upgrade but he would knock £50 off for me.

This works out at £250 for the year, whereas the offer would've been £262.50, so i'm quids in, i think

why not speak with o2 online, and say you really want the d600 and three have offered X, X amd X?

ive just done this for my parents in the last 2 weeks.

because i had previously done the same for my 2 existing contracts the month before.

on my existing contracts i was my renewal was set to:
    - 200m + 500txt + samsung i300 (free) for £15 a month
    - 200m + 500txt + nokia 6111 (free) for £15 a month

for my parents, that were new to o2. i managed to get:

    - free n70 + online 100 for £12 a month
    - free w800i + online 100 for £12 a month

My contract is up soon, still wondering whether to renew it or go pay as you go. Mind you, I fancy the new sony ericsson p990, that phone does it all!

My contract is currently £32 a month, and I have been paying for about 8 months now, contract is up in June. WIll I be able to haggle to get a bit off a new deal?
