Most 3 phones wernt able to be unlocked, or never used to be, some now are as other networks take up 3g, from the top of my head, I'd say it wasnt possibleBut there might be some exploits these days, '3' The network itself probably have the capability to do it if u ring up, normally charge a bomb for such things tho, best bets to get a difference phone if there are no good replies with help (Sorry thats not what you want to hear

3 will send you a subsidy unlock code after a minimum period or spend, but are funny about it because of the rise of box-breaking (buying cheap subsidised phones, unlocking them and chucking a different network in them.)
You can also get a remote code from some of the many websites which offer the service. Haven't used any myself, but from what I can see the service costs from £10-£25, and it can take a while for your code to arrive, as I think it can take some time for the code to be generated. But I would use common sense when choosing a service - make sure it's not a scam site, as I hear there are some out there.
Finally, the other method I know of is to find a mobile phone shop / market stall that offers unlocking services. However, this method involves cracking the phone open and connecting to an internal testpoint with some specialised hardware/ software, and the process will reflash your phone. This will invalidate your warranty, where as far as I know the previous two methods won't.
Good luck.
