I don't know if linking to another site is allowed, but Mobile Review did a round up of music phones complete with some interesting related tests.

Personally I would consider an Orange PayG K750i/W800i if they aren't overbranded so much. I guess sim free is my only hope

I think the W810i is probably now the best phone as it is basically the same as the K750/W800 but has dedicated music buttons.

Well... just got my w810i and its pretty good, it's the same as the w800 really but without the silly joystick and with an extra button i think. works, well nothing to complain about but not that exciting.

Im really lokin into a new phone atm cos my pitiful excuse for a phone is annoying me to say the least. After getting this 8800 ive looked at the specs of phones alot closer and realised that nokia dont believe in long battery life unlike SE i think this may be the first time i venture further than nokia. Im liking the look of of a w810i

    Class

The Nokia N91 music phone should be hitting stores in a couple of weeks.

Are mobiles getting more and more expenive??

W810i is like almost £400 sim free at expansys... I could understand a PDA phone being around the same price.. its got more features.. (wifi, better OS, built in apps etc)

I wouldn't go by Expansys prices, especially on a just released product. They're well known for over-charging.

The W800 is only £250 on Carphone Warehouse, and other then being newer there is no real reason that the W810 can't be about the same price, it is essentially the same phone after all (same electronics at least).

so we might see some firmware floating about the web like we did with the t300->t310??

UPDATE: Just looked on carphonewarehouse site W800i £209 on some PAYG networks

    http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/com...Model=SOEW800I

UPDATE: err... Nokia 7380.. has anyone used on of these?

Do O2 lock their PAYG handsets? i know they don't bother with their contract phones (never have as far as i'm aware) but never had a PAYG handset.

Never used the 7380, or the one that came before it. Heard it isn't that hard to use, one you get used to it though.

Yes im sure o2 lock their PAYG handsets.. dont really know of a network provider that doesnt.. I wasnt aware that they didnt lock their contract handsets either.. tbh the only Sim-Free handset ive had since i was on voda was the Nokia 6230 i asked for one that wasnt voda branded but was told it would be sim-locked..

After it arrived it was sim-locked but also branded.. complained.. then few days later pearl white 6230 un-branded and sim-free eBayed it within 2 weeks though wanted a pda phone..

and now i've got one i want a better one as this has a few bugs... Id hate to have myself as a customer!

My bad i didnt realise you meant the sim-free handset at £249.99 i suppose if you can get the w800i unlocked for £10 you have saved £40 and still got a "free" PAYG sim to annoy people with...

thought thats what all people did...

I'm pretty sure my O2 K750 isn't locked, i'll check tonight when i see my brother, he's on Voda.

I know they didn't do it a few years ago. My Nokia 7110 and Siemens SL45 were not locked when i got them (what terrible phones we usedto have...)

SL45!!! my first phone was a second hand C15... geez was that bad.. i even drooled when i paid £100 for a Nokia3210 and got a free light blue cartman phone case that i didnt even use more than once...

I tried to unlock the 3210 from orange (ok then 3210**e** and why was it an e?? not an o??) with a free program off the net and buggered it up.. I even went crazy over the t68i i paid £100 for on a contract at £35 pcm! i mean had i been smoking something??

Im now on a better contract (anytime 125 with 10mb data service) for a reduced price.. i dont think i will buy another PAYG handset again..

either contract upgrade or 2nd hand

I still love my K750i. Crackin camera too. Though the "joy" stick can be a bit vague at times.
