Tough one. I don't have an answer, but there are three things that will affect this.

    1) Does the Bluetooth spec support the use of two connections like this? and does it have the bandwidth to support handsfree and GPS at the same time?

    2) Does the bluetooth implimentation on the device support it?

    3) Will the softeare handle the multitasking?

I know i've not been a lot of help. Do you have a particular device in mind? have you contacted the manufacturer?

dunno about the actual question but i can use my t-mobile mda compact II while runnning tomtom in the background to make/take calls using the speaker mode in the car fairly easily without the need for a headset...

Cool, its the XDA Mini S i plan to get. I guess i could live with hands free speaker phone and GPS. I suspect you are right though Funkster about the BT spec, but was not sure. Can anyone clarify.

BTW, is the XDA Mini/MDA actually any good then?

I think i may have to switch to T-Mobile to get the unlimited surfing deal. Although it posible O2 might cave in with the unlimited GPS as they say they deal match.

    i wouldnt recomend one tbh...

mine has a habit of crashing and needs a reset every few days or it stops working as a phone...

also the web browsing is seriously annoying, its just so damn slow... i have 40mb a month on my contract but i never get near that cos i just dont have the patience to use gprs and waiting a couple of mins for each page to pitch up.

however, it is quite good, i play lots of solitaire and various other games on it. listen to lots of music and watch a few eps of family guy now and again. Tomtom is also great on it although it takes an age to start up due to the weedy cpu in this model.

I have heard that if you take the O2 stuff off it better, much truth in this?

Also, whats it like for receiving calls when tomtom is running?

    THat is correct.

Also O2 have just released a new ROM for the mini s. A great improvement on the last one. THe trick is when starting the mini s for the first time to install in the least 'O2 Mode'. Cant remember which one.

Im currently using the the last KJAM Rom. Works a treat but I have to manually configure the CPRS and MMS settings. Which I have to anyway as Im using a Dual Sim holder with Voda.

Ive a Nokia Handsfree Kit with Bluetooth in the car and it works fine with that. Ive a GPS receiveer on order. So will find out it Bluetooth can connect to two devices simealtaniously.

One Word: XDA Developers forums. Google it and find the forum.
