    Best current phone to buy?

Ok, sadly I have to come back to the UK at the end of next month for my final year of uni but this also means a new phone

I'm not currently on a contract so will be starting as a new customer, and i've been on PAYG for a year with my old nokia 6230, so i'm not up to date with the latest uk phones and contracts. So if you have some time on your hands i'd appreciate some input here

Firstly - which phone to get? I quite like my nokia 6230, but am not sure I want the same one again (ie not a 6230i, its almost identical), I preferably want one with 3G capability, an average camera and reasonable battery life. The main stipulation is that its NOT a Sony Ericsson - as I really have a strong disliking for their phones..I hate the UI and the design, and i'm not buying one

From reading around the Nokia N80 seems to be the one to go for at the moment, and this is what i'm looking at - but is there a 'better' one out there? and does anyone know how it compares to the cheaper N70?

    Also what about contracts?

I want a reliable contract with a few Xnet mins and some free texts, on either Vodafone or Orange...dont really want to go near O2 or three as i've had really bad experiences (either myself or via proxy) with both of those networks - but if the prices really are that much lower then I will consider it.
I can afford around 20quid a month for the contract...25 is pushing it really but I might be able to stretch to it if the deal is really worth it.

Cashback deals etc are good too, I just really have no idea where to look other than the vodafone/orange websites, which I doubt have the best offers out there?

    Cheers for any input

T-mobile Flext packages seem to be the best deals at the moment, you name your price, ie 20 or 25 quid and get x amount of credit to spend on whatever you want - good if one month you text all month, then next month use all your credit phoning.

www.t-mobile.co.uk also have good deals on their website
www.carphonewarehouse.com have good special offers like 99p a month line rental (if you can be bothered sending back the bills every now and then to get a cheque sent back)

    It's on O2 I actually want a reliable network

    But thanks for trying

There is a similar deal on orange though, works out as a couple of quid more a month but might be worth looking in to..

    Ah bum!

Double bum actually, as I've just got my PAC from Orange to move to O2. Orange have lost the plot recently - there are far better deals to be had on O2 (at least they don't have the nerve to charge for 0800 numbers and 0870 come out of inclusive minutes )

Good luck finding the right phone/network
