    Uk phone to be used in France

    Hi!

    i want to get a pay as you go phone for my brother in France,can i just get a sim in the phone and will it work?

    as long as the phone isn't locked to one network, then yeah, no problem.

    I was planning to get a orange phone and with a bit of luck,it will work in France
    I will keep u updated when i move in Brittany in a week today

    you'd better watch with Orange, they are usually locked i think.

    No phone i've had from O2 has ever been locked. Orange and T-Mobile always lock them and i think Vodaphone often do aswell.

    unless anyone knows different that is

    I just got a new phone on O2 and it's locked. It made things much more difficult for transfering contacts from my old phone as that was also locked but to 3.

    2 summers ago on my family holiday my dad took his mobile with him (on Vodafone) and the phone simply piggy backed onto the french vodafone service and we could still use the phone.

    BTW, we didn't have the roaming thing on the contract (and didn't need to buy a new sim card)......................
    Woohoo now Assistant Manager!
