    W800i Just Packed In :(

ive been using my SE W800i since about october and in the last 15 minutes its finally packed in, the joystick no longer function, and the keys seem to do what they want. The left menu key now dosent work, and the numbers select multiple numbers

i.e. when i press the number 1, the number 1 AND 4 appears on the screen

any ideas what i can do ?

I've heard of quite a few problems with the SE range of phones, I had the W800i myself and after trying the Sony software update on their websit, the phone completely stopped working. I had to take it to the nearest Sony repair centre but even they couldn't fix it, had to send it off and I got it back two weeks later.

My friend has the same phone and his joystick has stopped working.

Another friend has the K750i and his joystick is kaput too.

If you don't have insurance from your mobile operator, your best bet is probably finding your nearest service center.

Sony Erricson phones really seem to have taken a down turn I'm starting to have an issue with my W800i that the cable won't work properly - after cleaning the stupidly tiny contacts on the bottom of the phone it works again for a few days ... what was wrong with the old connector I had on my P900?!

They do take up just a little less internal space than the nokias charger ports, that could be their only reason

I just wish everyone started using nokia's charger system, its universal and just works so well

I had a very very minor problem with my joystick (the little orange bobble fell off ) and Vodafone took it in for repair and put in a new joystick for me.

It's under a year old, so your phone operator/place where you bought it, should fix it.

I'm sure you can get an adapter which changes the size of the old plug to the new mini plug.

I wish they hadn't changed the SE adapter though, I've got a USB charger that I use in the car and in work (I use it in the car via a car adapter that has a USB port on it, very handy so far).

I upgraded to the K800i on the weekend and I can't even use the USB data cable/charger that came with it through the car adapter as (apparently) it needs to install a driver before you can charge it with the USB cable

You can, I have an N80 which has the new mini plug but the phone came with an adapter so I can still use the old plug when need be.

A lot of my friends all had the K750i and they all stopped working well within the 12 month contract ending, I've had the W800i since April and had now major problems as of yet, but I'm starting to miss my Nokia!
