I'll have it back by morning.....

Can I borrow your XDA and GPS for a overnight trip? I'll keep it safe don't worry...

and after telling him not too let the battery drain he managed too bleed it dry.

Any ideas at what price I should charge him for breaking it?

If you can't find anywhere that stocks the part, or find a decent priced repairman then I would say charge him for a new one and let him have the old one.

I'd give him a slap to be fair.

    Whenever I borrow anything - if I mark/damage/hurt it - I would make sure I replace it.

    Is it insured with O2?

I'd claim the full price from Expansys

Ive had one of these, they dont break if the battery drains thats absurd.
Since the device has non volatile memory it does however lose all settings and data stored in flash memory if power is severed for longer than the backup battery can sustain (about 20 minutes).
Im guessing by the looks of the pic above it's been mistreated a great deal, or dropped possibly by accident or something, yup i'd charge for a brand new replacement from expansys, and possibly go for an Exec if u can withstand the extra bulk

The point is he let the battery drain *and* screwed over the screen.

Charge him the full cost of replacement through O2.
