    Best GPS Receiver?

    Hey lovely Hexus people,

First off, what's everyone's opinion of the latest and greatest GPS Chipsets?
I've heard pretty much nothing but good things about the Sirf III Chipsets, so am currently looking at these...however, I'm also seeing other chipsets, which claim to be equal, or better to this.

I'm looking at the Holux GPSlim GR-236 at the moment, although the 850mAh battery seems a bit low compared to others...

I'll mainly be using it to sync to my PDA, and occasionally my laptop.

Speed camera detection might be a nice afterthought, but I have the camera database in my PDA as POIs anyway, so not tooooooooooo important if not included - would just be nice when I don't have my PDA with me.

    Appreciate all your help everyone.

    Cheers,

    Ray

Another vote for the Holux GPSlim GR-236 used these since they came out also supplied a few to customers Excellent also they use a Nokia bl5c battery Just happens to be what my phone uses, So I use a Nokia desktop charger to charge a spare battery when we go away. Nokia bl5s on ebay are about £3.00. I also use a car cradle that charges my Axim 51v & the gpslim at the same time so only need the battery power when in the wifes car.

Right, I think I'll go for the Holux or a similar receiver then.

Any recommendations on where to buy them from? (As cheap as poss? )

    Thanks Wazi.

I like the small size of the Holux - however, a lot of places seem to have either just run out of stock or plain discontinued the darn thing...is anyone aware if there's a new model due out, which I may want to hold out for?

NavPal stock both the GlobalSat and Holux offerings. Which one would most people here go for?

    http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/bt338.php
    http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/gr236.php

The BT338 has a greater battery capacity.
However, the Holux looks a bit sexier, and seems to have better signal reception than the GlobalSat?

(I also read some reports that there were some problems with:
    - BT connection problems
    - time for first fix
    - quality of fix
    - battery problems
but these seem to have been fixed with more recent firmwares)
