They a MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) using the T-Mobile network.
They operate their own billing and customer services department.

15 quid a month, 300 mins 300 texts to any network. u dont get a phone but i dont need one. no contract, can cancel at any time. im paying 10 auid a month for 300 texts on paygo with o2 so this will be ideal

It's still essentially a contract as you'll get credit checked for it, and billed every month. The one month minimum term is what sets it apart.

    Signal quality of networks

    1)O2 Good
    2)Vodaphone Good
    3)Orange Fair
    4)T-mobile / virgin Poor
    5)Three Joke

Its going to be different for everybody depending on where you use your phone the most and this is the key to choosing your network. I have found the information above to be a good guide in general after years of mobile use. Also t-mobile have a problem with dropping calls even in a strong signal area not to mention major issues with texting send a text regardless which network you send it to and it can take days to turn up.

im quite suprised by three myself, having always slated them despite never owning them, i went against the grain and signed up with them.

we live out in the hills and o2 signal is a joke here, despite living half a mile from a mast.

im really impressed by three, as i get 'half' signal, and sometimes even video signal when the weathers good.

im certainly able to make and take calls throughout the house, unlike with o2 where i had to be by the side of 1 specific window.

as you've rightly said though, its all down to each specific user.

I have noticed that both my phones on the 3 network are better(not brilliant) than Virgin's. We have 2 Virgin mobiles and 3 phones on the 3 network, but Virgin's signal cuts off before the others in our house.

I use Virgin Mobile in London and most times the signal is average, sometimes poor.

Also have Orange and it is much better then Virgin, in my area anyway.
