    3gp

Anyone know much about transcoding to it?

I've got a video I want on my mobile - its MPEG or DivX?

    Help?

3gp is a simplified version of mp4. See here: http://www.3gp.com/ for various convertors, I personally use and recommend ImToo.

nero recode or xilisoft video convertor.

xilisofts the easiest, closely followed by nero (guide)

iirc, imtoo and xilisoft are the same program? may be wrong here.

But anyway, 3gp encoding is usually of such poor quality that if you get it onto a pc it'll look so bad you'll wish you didn't waste your time...or if you mean the other way round, what's played on your tiny mobile screen will probably be so bad tha you can't see what the video should be.

    I wouldn't bother.

I will disagree with you there, true on a pc monitor at a decent resolution, it looks pants. But on a mobile phone, its more than good enough, clear enough to watch.
