I'm happy with mine. I'd just like the frimware to be releasde so i can update my Orange handset.
Need to get a screen protector and a case then i'm set for the set 18 months!
What's the battery life like if you're not using all the fancy features? I'm really interested in this phone but I don't fancy having to charge it every single day if I just use it for a couple of calls.
I accept that wifi, bluetooth, GPS etc is going to suck the battery real quick, but just trying to get an idea of battery life if it's not doing too much during the day.
I'd like the extra features for the odd times that I need them but wouldn't be using them all the time.
this phone reminds me of a TVR your more worried about how your going to fix it than how it performs lol
Very good An N95 is probably as good as a TVR roof at keeping the rain off you too.
I tried to buy this bloomin' phone the other day after waiting quite a long time for it to be released. Snag is the very nice chap at Vodafone upgrades tried to put me off it due to all the problems with it, then couldn't offer me the same deal as was on the website. Even though I could have ordered it over the website straight away.
I feel sorry for the poor sods manning the lines, he was obviously toeing the line but is on a hiding to nothing when he's not even allowed to match the website. I was told to wait on someone senior calling back. Still waiting...
Update....
Im definately liking the new firmware, the phone is just much faster and snappier.. cant really comment on the gps improvements or the camera because ive not used them much since..
standby battery life seems much better, i can get through the day easily with a full battery meter when just using for txts and calls..
my favorite function of this at the moment has to be the Nokia video manager application.. basically will take any vid you have a codec for on your PC (divx, xvid etc) and with one-click, re-code into MP4 and bung it on the memory card for watching on the N95.. ive been using it to great effect.. watching episodes of lost, scrubs and boston legal on the bus on the way to work - who needs an ipod video now!!!! - althought this can drain the battery in a few hours.
The application to change your product id on the phone is called NSS.. - it only works on XP tho.. and remember, for all you Orange and Voda users you should re-flash anyway to re-enable the SIP functions
So you're saying at the end of the day your battery meter is still got a fair bit left when just used for texts and calls? I don't expect it to be fantastic battery life with all the features turned on, and it would be great to have wifi, 3g, GPS etc for when I'm out and about(though I realise that will kill the battery real quick).
However, I can't be doing with charging my phone every evening when all it's done is sit on the table with none of the fancy stuff turned on. Inevitably I'll forget one night and the it gets difficult the next day rationing your use.
it does muck up your warrenty hecnh why im afraid to update it!
Been doing alot of reading about this phone and like the look of what I have been reading and seeing
1 question I have. Is this phone able to work on a GSM network as I would like to keep my current sim..
All phones in the UK are GSM
what I meant was that the phone is shown as 3G but I have a O2 PAGO sim which I would like to use still.. Will that work?
Has anyone updated their Orange handset yet?
Yes. as i said, all phones in the UK are GSM, 3G is a bolt on over the top.
From the spec page:
http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4344017WCDMA2100 (HSDPA), EGSM900, GSM850/1800/1900 MHz (EGPRS)
Automatic switching between bands and modes
As not everywhere gets a 3G service, it would be pointless to have a 3G only phone in the UK.
