Where should I buy Holux GR-236?

I want one and I ordered one from www.clove.co.uk two weeks ago. They're not expecting to get one in until the end of this week and I'm getting impatient.

Can anyone recommend a supplier who might have one in? I don't want to pay much more than the £70 inc vat Clove sell it for. Anybday dealt with http://www.navpal.co.uk

I've read about their tepremental behaviour so I'm not keen on ebay as the ability to return if it's duff is important. Any actual proper shops which sell them?

    I e-mailed navpal.co.uk the other day.

Seem like a friendly outfit, but they did inform me that they no longer had stock of the GR-236.

I eventually when for the GlobalSat BT359W instead from mr_buybits, and have been happy with this so far.

Looks like the 236 might be out of production, how did you decide on the GlobalSat? I like the sensitivity of the Holux but I'm struggling to find decent reviews

Great site - thanks for that. And a big thumbs up for the globalsat too! The one thing I like about the Holux is the on/off being a physical switch which means I can leave it wired into the car without having to switch it on.

pocketgpsworld is what helped me to decide too.

I believe there is a new Holux coming out...the GR-240, but I'm not sure what this is like in comparison to either it's predecessor or the GS 359W.

    Edit: linky: http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/t...TOPIC_ID=62780
    - would appear that most people liked the 359W over the 240, but there's still a lot of love (and quite rightly so) for the original 236

Just drawing from my personal experience, I've been using the 359W for most of a week now, and have to say that I'm impressed with it.

As expected, it's been a hell of a lot better than my previous Sirf II received, and plays nicely with TomTom 6 on my PDA.

Still waiting for Clove.co.uk to get stock in - so a big thumbs down for them. I'm giving them until tomorrow before I cancel.

Update - the Holux GPS is great. Really sensitive and super-fast at geeting a fix. No problems with Bluetooth, works seamlessly with TOMTOM (when you add as Other NMEA GPS and make sure you have v5.21 if your HX4700 keeps locking up) and Memory Map Navigator on my PocketPC (Windows Mobile 2003SE).
