I didn't know such a phone existed. It's not listed on the SE website.

correction, it's not on the UK website as it isn't available here.

http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?...=pp1&pid=10409 and then click on the Local Availability link at the side.

Can I just ask - how much were you looking at spending on the phone? and how much do you spend on topups each month?

    Take the following two examples:

    Person 1 - doesn't want/need/like the latest greatest phones, tops up £5 every 2 months to keep his phone alive. Total Cost/year £60(phone) £30 (TopUps) = £90

    Person 2 - likes the latest greatest, tops up £15/month. Total Cost/year £120-180 (phone) £180 (TopUps) £300-360

If you're person 1 then PAYG is perfect, if you are person 2, then PAYG is a false economy - and you would be better off with a Contract, as you would get the phone for free. As follows:

    £20-25/month & No charge for a k800i, Total Cost/year £240-300.

    Just food for thought

    Dave

    ah, makes sense.

3G is bloody useful if you own a laptop and want to browse the internet though

Is it? that's one hell of a trick for a mobile phone

Have you seen the expected availability date for that? Q2 2006. So that makes it 6 months late already.

I wouldn't be holding my breath for this to actually appear if i were you.

I was browsing for a good 20 mins, alongside mobile internet usage (ie checking film times, weather, email etc) and it cost me £1.41 for the month

Ah well - if you want the k800i, it appears you are going to have to shell out for one, like the rest of us

Otherwise consider something like the n73 which I've seen on offer occasionally...

    According to Wikipedia :

"The difference between the two phones is that the K790 supports GSM and EDGE, while the K800 supports UMTS and GSM."

This would be why the K790i isn't released in the UK, or the majority (if not all) of Europe - we don't support EDGE.
