    XP Reinstall Procedure Help

Right, 2 years this install has lasted, but now it has started to hang for a while on boot and I think it;'s time for a new clean install. Now...........can you guys remind me the recommended order of doing things, it's been a while

After XP SP1 goes on what is the most secure order, I currrentley use Avast anti virus, Spybot search and destroy,
    and windows firewall
Ive recentley gone witht the top BT Home hub package tht comes with a Mcafee suite (I think its mcafee anyways!) Would I be better off using that?

Thanks for your help in advance

First download SP2 and burn it to CD or somewhere that you can access post-install. Install XP SP1 whilst disconnected from internet, install SP2, install your AV of choice THEN connect to the internet and get the critical updates.

AV-wise I'm using Avast at the moment as I'm running Vista (my normal choice of F-Secure didn't play happily with it) and it seems fine other than the annoying popups.

I never install SP's on top of an install - but thats more habbit than issues.
If your doing a fresh install, there is no reason why you shouldnt use Nlite (google it), to slipstream SP2 onto the disk, along with all other critical updates
