    Invision

    Ok My m8 has got an Invision site hosted on a free Invision host, he dont have ftp access and i dont know how to backup the databse ne help on doing so for when he moves host please? thanks

    If I remember correctly, Invision has a utility in the administrator interface, this will allow him to make a dump of the database into a .sql file

    If he doesn't have FTP access or SSH shell access, how is he going to get the files for his board? (php files, avatars etc)

    Id make sure the new host allows him to use SSH access, then he can restore the database at the prompt, which is infinitely simpler and likely to work. Huge databases dont restore well with apps like phpmyadmin (and the like).. and he won't be able to restore his ivb board through a newly installed board.

    http://ipbfree.com/index1.html it is with these guys and i carnt see a backup option he dont want to redo the whole forum again but will be getting a propper host prety soon!
