    Recommend an anti-spyware software

Hi, I need to get a new anti-spyware software since my Spyware Doctor has now expired. I have had nothing but problems with Spyware Doctor, so am glad to get rid of it.

Can anyone recommend anti-spyware software which has good detection rates, and has a light footprint??

    Thanks for you help!!

    Plenty of free software available.

I use Ad-Aware, it seems to get rid of most known programs. Just have to keep it updated.

Always good to add SpywareBlaster along side any other apps.

    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

It's non-resident, so no system resources are used.

I used to use multiple products like Ad-Aware, SpyBot-S&D, and have trialled just about every piece of anti-malware software available. If you want a backup on-demand scanner, one of the best free scanners is probably ewido (you can pay to have real-time). A very good real-time only product is BOClean.

I now just use Kaspersky Internet Security 6 which detects trojans, spyware, adware, riskware, along with viruses. I also use a Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) product - System Safety Monitor and AppDefend/RegDefend are two of the best. However, you will receive a lot of pop-ups which can be a bit dis-concerting. PrevX is a good HIPS/scanner without too many pop-ups.

    Hope I didn't confuse you!

Cheers everyone for their suggestions. I have also been recommended SuperAntiSpyware.

Keep them coming, I'm sure this information will be beneficial to other people.
