File & Settings Transfer XP to Vista

Is the file & settings transfer wizard cross compatible XP to Vista? Can I export out of XP & Into Vista?

I'll admit i haven't tried it(I keep OS and data on separate disc and just format the OS when necessary), but the option is there.

Most program files should be ok. All the data and documents will be fine. You come across a few dead programs when you try to open them up in Vista.

Is there something you particularly wanted to carry across? Bringing stuff from old onto new always seemed counter-intuitive to me.

Mostly everything in Outlook, Access & Excel. I've never bothered before when going from 95 to 98 to ME to 2k to XP. But I thought I'd give it a whirl this time, seeing as there's always something I miss lol
