    Changing just my processor.

What’s the chances of my current XP install working if I change just my processor from an AMD Opteron to a 64 X2 Dual Core?

Are there any drivers I should try to install in advance?

Just check afterwards that it recognises two cores rather than one. You sometimes need a different HAL for dual support.
