    Sorting out my MP3's?

I've got a large amount of MP3's in one folder. Is there a piece of software out there that will sort them in Artist folders?

Media Monkey should be able to do that (providing they're tagged).

The free (standard) version can be downloaded from their site.

Plenty of programs can do this.

As well as Media Monkey, look at The God Father.

I personally just use Foobar2000. You have a lot more options/control, but its a bit more complicated. Worth the effort though.

mp3tag will do this so long as the files are adequately named or tagged.

Musicbrainz tagger can do this AND re-tag all your files correctly in case something's got the wrong details.

There's a few apps on offer, I'd recommend the classic tagger as Picard wasn't stable enough for me.

Nick, I have over 17,000 mp3s on my PCs and swear by Tag&Rename. Great piece of SW and worth every penny.

iTunes will do this all for you with one click(well one click once its installed/setup).

This assumes that your mp3s are properly tagged of course - if but if they are then just goto options, set the 'my music' folder to the root of your mp3 folder, tick the box that says 'let iTunes organise my music' and then import your mp3 folder to iTunes.

Wait 5 mins - and your done iTunes will automatically create all the folders and put the music in the right place..you don't even have to use iTunes to listen to music (although there's nothing wrong with using it )

Will iTunes create duplicate mp3's? or just move them?

It will create duplicates of any mp3s that you don't put in your home folder, but if the mp3 is in your home folder it will just move it around inside that folder (for example from E:\MP3s\Arise.mp3 to E:\MP3s\Sepultura\Arise\Arise.mp3)

To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
