I use diskeeper however my trial has just ran out. To buy the version I need it'll cost me £51. Are there any better versions or should I just stump up the cash? I think it's pretty steep tbh.

PerfectDisk is only 20 quid (39.99 dollars) for a single license.
I guess it's good?
IObit smartdefrag (http://www.iobit.com/SmartDefrag/index.html) is a good defagger, vista ready, and free.
Start->Run->dfrgui.exe
Why pay for something that Windows already does for free, just as well as any of those mentioned above?
One with no overhead (i.e. nothing runs in the background) Ultimate Defrag (http://www.disktrix.com/ultimatedefr...matedefrag.htm) has won me over recently.
Before that I used perfect disk.
The built in disk defrag is nowhere near as flexible as either. It's a cut down version of diskeeper in 2k/XP
I used to use O&O, but have started to use PerfectDisk recently as I like it's system of choosing the best defrag method given the fragmentation on the disk.
JKDefrag is free and quick. It can be downloaded with its GUI (one file) from

I've used diskkeeper and perfectdisk. I think PerfectDisk's one-pass defrag is a good idea, although I don't know whether it has any real effect on defrag times...
I swear by 0&0 Defrag, it's never let me know.
Power Defragmenter 2.0.125 is a front end for Contig (sysinternals). Contig is the fastest defragger available. An advantage of contig is that it doesn't lump all your files together at the start of the drive which leads to guaranteed future fragmentation.
It's free, I got it from :- http://www.softpedia.com/progDownloa...oad-20185.html
Lumping your files together at the start of the drive is exactly what you do want - it's the best place for performance.
Most defraggers have options to place more commonly used files neared the end of this lump, so when they change there's not as much fragmentation.
I ran search..............
