Bitcomet hogging bandwidth even when only at 10kbs..

I'm getting really annoyed with this now. I use torrents mainly to get updates for indie games, freeware music albums, etc. Usually the download rate is fairly high, and it's understandable that browsing speed decreases...

However, if there's little torrent activity and the download rate drops to below 20kbs, browsing the general internet is still really slow (youtube streams very slowly, posting takes ages, etc.)

Is there any work around for this - because i think it's a bit unreasonable for a program to slow down everything else when its only using a fraction of my connection.

Have you got distributed tracking enabled? That seems to suck up bandwidth on some connections...

same, I never use bitcomet as most people using bittornado dont share to it. i was downloading from bittornado and my friend from bitcomet and he was getting crappy speeds due to the client.

I'd say use Bittornado or uTorrent. I prefer uTorrent because it has shutdown features. But I use to use Bittornado alot before.

I just, load the torrents and save them to the folders they were previously being downloaded to, it'll just check and carry on downloading.

azureus , idk i have tried azureus before and I didnt like it but utorrent is small, same as bittornado. utorrent has the shutdown hibernate and other options like to seed x% and then finish. bittornado is the most basic but I found I used to get fast speeds on it. almost 300+ kb/s same for utorrent.

If I had to guess I'd say it's to do with your upload. If you are almost maxing out your upload then websites slow down an awful lot.

yep full upload chokes your download all the time, unless you got a business line which i think we all havent, unless you're rich

i found utorrent to be faster and easier to setup, azureus too complicated with this beginner intermediate and advanced modes, plus I set it to download to a certain dir but azureus insisted on making another subdir of the name of the torrent. bittornado and utorrent better.

THe difference is even greater after you've read the set up and tweaking guides. The second one is particularly good.

I use Azureus with 15k upload on a 1meg or 2meg connection. It doesnt seem to interfere with normal browsing at all.

Responsiveness of the connection seems to depend on how much upload is being used.

I used to use Azureus, but it was more of a CPU killer..

EDIT: The guide's pretty useful Thanks!

None of the other clients give me the features and reliability of Azureus. I have a fast CPU, so it doesnt bother me.
