    Can't Suspend To Ram

    OK, I know there's no easy answer to this, but please help, any hints will do.

    I've basically tried everything to get my Windows XP to sleep, A.K.A. S3 standby mode, A.K.A. STR(Suspend To Ram), whatever. I've done a lot of googling, and have found many solutions. Some says this is a usb mouse problem, some says I have to use a certain registry key to enable this, some says the "dumppo.exe" utility will do the job, and some says the third-party "sleeper" program can help. Basically I've tried all of above, and my computer still refuses to go to S3 sleep mode(I've already set the STR option to "Auto" in BIOS, of course), in which all the fans should be turned off. Instead, it only goes to S1 mode, in which fans are still on and noisy, and the power LED blinking. My motherboard is an ASROCK K7VT6, and I believe it's not too old to support this feature.

    So, after all these crap, is anybody still interested helping me out?

    The one thing which prevents my machine from entering S3 is having the USB mouse option "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" enabled (found in the Mouse / Power Management Tab). The well documented reg fix for this problem didn't work for me, but simply disabling the option did. Worth a quick try if you haven't done so already.

    Have you checked that all the USB jumpers on the motherboard are +5VSB enabled. It solved the similar problems I was having with my media center.

    If still no joy have a look on this thread:

    Though its a MCE forum the theory is still the same and you might find a solution.

    Get down the minimum number of devices you can and then try. It could be anything causing you problems.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
