What is the best way to clear page file?

I believe some third party applications allow you to do that when you shutdown your computer but usually it takes too long. Is there any quickerway of doing this? And why does it take so long I mean ...aren't they just erasing everything? Even deleting 10G file in explorer is in a flash, I don't get it...

I'm not too sure on the niceties of it, but put rather crudely I believe that's because deleting a file just removes the reference to it, allowing that space to be used for new files. On the other hand, clearing the page file presumably zeroes the page file i.e. actually deletes the data on the disk.

If you're doing this for security, as Mike W said, just deleting is a waste of time.
Something such as Eraser http://www.heidi.ie/eraser/ can be set to /erase/, but it will take quite a while (setting to 3 passes might be enough for you(?))
