In amongst everything else that I get up to i'm also a beta tester for the next version of Directory Opus (something that I have had affinity for since the Amiga days). I can't recommend this app enough - nothing (nada) touches it for power and flexibility. If you're on Vista, you _really_ need this as it so much better at handling UAC than explorer and much quicker to boot.
You can get a 60-day trial http://www.gpsoft.com.au/index2.html
Probably the most useful thing for me is it's now portable - you can export the whole app (and all your settings) to a USB key and use it (install-free) anywhere. I find this very useful (as i'm often between offices or in the labs where I work).
Leo Davidson has a good guide to what's new on his website - http://nudel.dopus.com/opus9/ where he also has a rather good introduction to it.
And no, i'm getting no kickbacks i'm a fully paid (multiple licence) user for this
I'd recommend waiting for the release before signing up for a trial so you can give it a go on Vista (and use all the neat new features).
