    Slow boot up

Not been on here for ages, been away. Has anything changed on here as had to re-register as didnt' recognise my old ids etc.
Anyway I would like any info on the following problem. On boot up the system runs very slowly. Looking at the task master the CPU usage is 99 -100%. The first cause if swdsvc.exe hogging the cpu then its the turn of svchost.exe

After these have settled down cpu usage drops to a normal level. I have run spamware and antivirus which shows nothing new.

No new software has been installed this has just happened out of the blue.
Also cannot connect to certain sites. Plus cannot access firewall port details via windows states"due to an unidentified problem Windows cannot display windows firewall settings"

    Any pointers gratefully received.

The swdsvc.exe file relates to a Spyware Doctor Service from PC Tools (as I'm sure you know), if you haven't got SWD, then remove swdsvc.exe from your startup.

If you have SWD (sounds like a disease) i believe there were a number of complaints when the last update to version 5 was released that it slowed their systems down, so check to see what ver you have, (I don't know if SWD auto-updates, but if it does, it may have updated you to 5 without you knowing) as this may be the problem.

These probs were reported a while back, so really they should have been sorted by now. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/03...e_doctor_bugs/

    Hope this helps.
