    I can get Vista Business for free, but should I bother?

    I can get free Vista business edition from my university and I'm considering it. I've not done all this partitioning stuff before though. Is it tricky? What would be the best way to install it.

    Thanks, Olie

    any chance of a better title "mmm" really has nothing to do with vista, partitioning or installing Nice to have reasonalbe titles in a technical forum to make it searchable and easy to reference.
    It is Inevitable.....

    why dont you get vista now, wait til you are doing a format, and sort out the partitions and install it then, or just buy a 200gb harddrive for £40 and slap it on there to have a play... if anything goes wrong you wont have to fiddle about with the partitions and boot loaders and crap

    I got vista business free from uni, and i havent used it for about 2 months now.. just gone back to XP

    Olie, I take it you're going to get it using Brissle's MSDNAA?

    I've had my copy of Vista sat around since it became available. I haven't bothered installing yet, and I'm not sure I intend to.

    Get it; it's free. Just don't rush into installing it. Make sure it'll work and that you actually think you'll benefit from the changes/new features it introduces.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Yup the MSDNAA loan. I thought we had to give it back after 7 days.Or is that just what's written?
    I suppose I haven't really thought about what I might benefit from it. Looks nice I guess but I can't see any advantages program wise.

    The worst thing is that it was only a few months ago (before I came here) that I paid for XP and that is also free :| .

    Steve, when you say make sure it will work do you mean specs wise? I'm certainly fine there.

    I don't expect to be doing a format anytime soon (unless it is specifically to install Vista), although my room is an absolute tip. I manage to keep my hard drive in order.

    Thanks, Olie
