    Dual Core F@H?

Does it automatically use dual core CPUs or do you have to get a 3rd party program?

For the command line client you run two copies in seperate directories and give it a different cpu number.......thats how I am running it now.

Or use the SMP beta client.

You have to have the computer on pretty much 24/7 to complete the WUs before the deadlines though.

Or there is a beta version which is SMP aware. It prefers quad cores (although it will run on dual) and is not as straight forward to run as the original single threaded version (it is beta!) and won't install as a service.

    Cheers,

The SMP client is easiest to install, or you can just run 2 command line clients or 1 command and 1 graphical. You cant how ever run 2 graphical clients. Also thanks to my motherboard going pop I've probably lost my place a top hexus's ranking

I will be slowing down for the weekend as I am dual booting with Vista 64 and I need(not really its just because its there annoying me) to get it all set up.
Though the the devilish thought of folding with my other two rigs and my laptop was stopped by my missus.

I had no idea, maybe this is why I'm not doing so well considering I've been running it 24/7 for ages now.

    I'll do this now.

I keep getting this happening. Any idea how to fix it? I'm using the SMB version.

It then tells me that it will fall asleep for 24 hours and try again.

I've just setup my PC to run two instances of the console version, all the config and setup went okay. But once loaded, it gets to the bit saying "Completed 0 of 5000000 steps" and does nothing. I've sat here for 10 minutes waiting for it to change and it hasn't.

I moved to the console version from the GUI version to see if there was a difference. Becuase, when I first used the GUI version, the first 2 work units were done within a few hours. But now, it downloads work units that are estimated to take days, if not weeks!!! This isn't ideal as I would like to contribute, but can't leave the computer on 24/7 365.

I use the Ps3 for folding and that only ever seems to download work that takes no more than 8 hours to complete, so how come I can't get my pc to do this?
The only setting I could think of that could make a difference was the 'download WU bigger than 5mb', which is set to 'no'.

    Any help appreciated

You've just got a large work unit, give it time and it will sort itself
