Clone View In Vista, No Longer Works

    Hi All,
Any help on this would be most grateful...

I just changed from XP Pro to Vista and so far everything has worked fine. Came to watch a film from the PC on the TV in the same room (connected via S-VHS cable like it has been for the past 2 yrs) but it didn't work.

Went onto the new Nvidia Control Panel (yuk) and soon realised that the massive amount of options on the old 'classic' panel were no longer there. Still I persevered and found 'clone' mode. I applied this only to be presented with the following issues...

1 - The PC monitor resolution changed to 640 x 480 and I could only physically change it back to 1024 x 768 and not the 1280 x 1024 that it is always set to.

    2 - I can't get a 'full screen view' on the TV

The older XP drivers / control panel allowed very simply to keep the PC resolutions the same without messing, and all I had to do was tick the 'enable full screen view on secondary display' and we could all sit and watch without any issues.

    Am I missing something ?

    I have a 7800GTX, 256mb

    Drivers are 158.18

Ironically I've just been reading on another forum that the Vista nV drivers have major problems with outputting to projectors (and presumably other less-standard displays too), so I'm sorry to say it, but it sounds like you're going to be twiddling your thumbs for while. nV drivers really aren't much good at all, still.

No use to you at all but a little rant - by contrast to your experience, I installed the ATi drivers on x64 yesterday, and they appear complete - nothing obvious wrong or lacking with them, and by most accounts the performance is up there with XP. The only stumbling block was, shock horror, still Creative, and a lack of even a respectable Vista driver (when selecting 5.1 it automatically reverts straight back to 2.0/2.1 on my Audigy 4 Pro). The onboard would have done, but I'm missing the front left speaker on that (SoundMax ADI1988B). I'd have just ordered an Auzentech X-Meridian 7.1 (which I've had my eye on for a while now), but there's no where in UK that I could find with any stock. Vista has to wait a little while for my main system.

I really, really, really despise Creative. Complete bunch of incompetent clots*.

as you can see there i am having many problems with drivers!! And also with stupid creative!! I can assure the world i will never buy another one of their dodgy soundcards with lax drivers!

Seems nothing works for vista. So much for the 7 year wait... Pain in the ass tbh

If you read the release notes for the drivers (even for 158.43 which is the latest for Vista) there's a stack of known issues and non-implemented functionality. You'll just have to wait for them to sort it out

You would think though, for such a big company that they would have had this sorted ages ago. And as for creative. Thats just a joke.
