How to share an Office 2007 document so others can contribute?

My sister and her husband have recently emmigrated to Australia so I'd like to do some sort of online collaberation with them. We're both into our cooking so what I'd like to do is take a OneNote recipe notebook and somehow share it online so that either of us could login and read/edit the notebook.

Can this be done and if so, how? I noticed that OneNote has a shared notebook wizard thing but when using that it asks me "Where would the shared notebook be stored?" and my options are "On a server" or "In a shared folder on this computer".

Now, I do have my own webspace so I'd be happy to host the notebook myself but I'm confused as to how I go about doing that. Both I and my sister have Office Home and Student 2007. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

not too sure Parm, I presume you both have to have the software installed and access to the server in which you host your webspace.

How about using some FTP software that allows you to map your FTP space as a network drive?

Then Windows/Office will think it is a drive on your network somewhere. OneNote should be able to handle that.

I know you can get FTP shell tools like that, i just can't remember any names

Was about to mention this, google docs is pretty darn good for collaboration, especially for documents. Its not great at reading formating information from office 2007 docs, but if its mainly text that your after it should be fine

I'd suggest something like google docs too.

The "Microsoft way" would probably be to use Office Groove - allows seamless sharing of files/documents. You can download a demo here:

Edit: sorry - can't post link. Googling office grove will find it for you

I've just had a look at Google Docs, very good!! I use Google Reader quite often but it appears they have quite a few little apps that I may find useful.
