    Free Video Conferencing Program?

    hi everyone,

I work for a company and we are looking at implimenting some video conferencing software so to save money on travelling to meeting, etc. We need a video conferencing program that allows multiple streams as the meetings usually have a few people in them. MSN would be the best choice if only it could handle multiple videos as everyone already has it! I have heard some other suggestions such as Skype, Spontania (sounds like a duff Peter Andre track), NetMeeting, GoToMeeting, etc. I have been reading about them but I think most of them don't handle multiple video. So I am wondering if anyone out there has used any programs successfully for multiple video chats - free or otherwise? Free would be best but sometimes you have to spend money in this world! Cheers for reading.

Skype is the best by a long-shot. MSN really is a sucky IM client, terribly so.

Another vote for Skype.. it has some great features and coupled with the 'Festoon' plugin (previously called 'vSkype') you'll be able to have a video conference with multiple skype users simultaneously.. which isn't currently supported by Skype alone. As far as I know they only support 1 v 1 video calls at the moment.

With 'Festoon' you can view up to 8 participants at any one time. Just tried their website, doesn't seem to be working at the minute!

To be honest I've only used the conferencing feature with the voice side of things, but the Festoon plug-in seems like the software you require. Definitely worth looking into.

Spontania is another Skype plugin but doesn't support multi-user video conferencing.

Thanks everyone, I have downloaded Skype and and testing it out. The festoon site is still down and I know it was down last week. I have managed to find a copy somewhere but it looks like the site could be no more possibly? Am waiting for someone to bring in a webcam so can test with them and hopefully have some sucess!

I have tried to use SKype with a copy of Festoon I managed to find but I couldn't get it to work. Skype was great but when I tried to use the Festoon plugin on three seperate PC's it would always freeze and takes ages. I know that the Festoon website is down and has been down for a few weeks now so I wonde rif that has something to do with it?

Does anyone know of any other programs that could be used for video conferencing? Thanks.

If he's using windows which pretty much all businesses are then he's already paid for that, he's saying he doesn't want to pay for an additional application.

Don't be a "microsoft rip off" moron.
