Looking to purchase Kaspersky Internet Security..

    Hello all.

Im looking to purchase Kaspersky Internet Security and i have noticed that Amazon seem to be clearing stock by offering the 3 desktop user licence for Kaspersky IS 2009 for £14.57.. whereas Kaspersky IS 2010 is £31.57.

Can anyone here with experience of both/either recommend whether it is worth getting the 2010 version, or if i should jump on 2009 at its current price?

    Thanks,

    Bk7

Personally I prefer 2009, but it really is horses for courses.

Re: Looking to purchase Kaspersky Internet Security..

I don't really know much about Kaspersky in terms of personal use, I just know that for paid software it has good CS and high detection rates for an all round IS package, unlike say Avira which is incredibly good for virus detection but lacks in the IS department.

Are there any features in Kaspersky 2010 that make it more valuable to buy as opposed to 2009? Ive looked at their feature list on their website but can't compare it to 2009.

I was sure the last time I looked into it you could buy 2009 with full year subscription and use that to upgrade to 2010 for free.

You can upgrade free of charge from 2009 to 2010, I've just done that.

Re: Looking to purchase Kaspersky Internet Security..

Yes it definitely does work (2009 -> 2010.)

I'm using KIS 2010 and although I'm a big fan of the product I'm having some issues at the moment which it seems others are too. Namely, Youtube videos won't play. There seems to be no way of getting around this apart from pausing KIS protection. I've had a mess with this and KIS has been very hesitant to re-enable itself once you pause it.

I'm on Win 7 RC 64 bit so maybe this problem is to do with that platform but anyway, be aware of this.. I'm debating going back to 2009 currently.

I always get the older version of kaspersky as boxed from say amazon since its cheaper. all kaspersky licenses allow free upgrades.

Re: Looking to purchase Kaspersky Internet Security..

Yes you get database and product updates for a year when you install your license. Find a cheap 2009 version (Scan do them) and then install that, then go to Kasperskys website and download the 2010 version and you can have that for free.

Re: Looking to purchase Kaspersky Internet Security..

Thanks for everyone's input. As of my last post I have ordered Kaspersky 2009 from Amazon - 3 user license for only £15 - fantastic considering someone else I know got a KIS 09 1 user license for £17 last year!

Topic can be closed mods, thank you.

Buy the older one and go to Kaspersky and get the free upgrade to 2010. I did mine this week.

(Take a look at Scan btw). I bought the 3 user 1 year OEM for under £12 IIRC.

Yeah Kaspersky give you free updates within the license period, which is good! As for upgrading, buy the cheapest one you can find, V7 or later, and download the newest version from their site - you shouldn't even need to put the CD in the drive since the key is all you need. http://www.kaspersky.com/kis_latest_versions

Do you have to buy hardware with the OEM version or doesn't it really matter?
