AMD X2 and Vista Drivers
Hiya,
I should be getting the last piece of my HTPC in the post tomorrow, so will start my build, but just a few questions
Do I have to install the AMD X2 Processor Driver to enable use of 2 cores? There is only an XP version there to download on AMDs utilities pages. I know that there is no need for the CnQ as they are now integrated, but what about these?
In fact, what are they even used for? I dont believe that I've ever used them under XP but just wanted to know if I need it for Vista.
Finally, should I run the dual core optimizer utility too? Or is that XP specific only as well?
Any help would be great

Vista will be well aware of the 2 cores.
Just install the correct and up to date chipset drivers and you'll be fine.

Oh right - its a shuttle board - so had a dig around their site and got a vista driver pack for the barebones that should be arriving today. Hopefully that will work okay, and as long as the ethernet drivers are picked up, then I should be ok to Windows Update anything else in the system

Somethings like USB devices and printers I let windows take care off...
But sound, GPU, motherboard, TV, LAN (bundled with chipset drivers in my case) etc. you want to get the latest vista versions off the manufacturers.
But two cores will work with Vista out the box :)
