    Pc Crash

ok for some time now my friends laptop crashes when playing games and we cant work out why. its pretty up to date not brand new but its 64 bit amd and should be bale to run the games easy. its crashing when running games like dungeon keeper 2 and delta force 2 aswell as up to date games like eve online and conterstrike. we have tried reinstalling windows and everything but nothing fixes it. when the games crash they either blue screen and the laptop restarts or they pop up this error

The Instruction at "0x0041a69d" referenced memory at "0x00000008". The memory could not be "written".

does anyone have any idea wat is wrong its becoming annoying when we have to keep restarting network games cos hes crashing

Simple questions first... what surface is the laptop sitting on? Anything that could block the vents and cause it to overheat? When you reinstalled windows was this a full format or just an 'over the top' reinstall? Any memory been installed recently?

    What causes a kernel trap 0x00000008 ?

That's the Double Panic- the kernel panics while panicing. It can be caused by corrupt driver code, but is more likely to be bad ram (or bad CPU, motherboard- anything that causes a bad instruction to get to the cpu).

    There are two things

    1. get the most recent mobile gfx driver...

    2. Try to place you laptop on a smooth surface, or a stand, or a cooling stand...for better ventalation...

Well its not overheating then, and a clean install should rule out most malware/viruses. Have a look here ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/mobility-xp.html for a up to date graphics driver. If that doesn't solve it, try running memtest (memtest.org) or microsofts windows memory diag (oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp) and check out the ram as it sounds like a hardware issue. If you can take it out and reseat it this may also solve the problem.
