    Vista Home Premium upgrade retail?

Does such a thing exist, and is it what I need?

At the moment I have XP home on my system and I want to upgrade to Vista. I don't want an OEM copy has I upgrade my system quite often. So I guess I need a retail copy and would making it a upgrade version make it any cheaper?

Also do I need 32bit or 64bit version?

    Thanks for any help.

or if you qualify a lot cheaper

up to you wether you want 32 or 64 version. The box only contains 32bit and if you want 64bit you have to send off for the disk unless you know somebody with a copy.
This licence key supplied is the same for both flavours

My mrs works for Oxford uni, would I be able to get away with getting the cheaper version somehow? What proof is asked for?

    Thanks again

No proof needed. It is exactly the same as the full priced version.
also unless you are runing XP home or media edition it will ask you do do a clean install so you also get a fresh install of the retail product rather than an upgrade. It is not bending the rules Microsoft tell you on the box.
Remember they may ask for academic status in the future you never know with Microsoft.

Strange I have done three of them.

From the instructions on the box

"You must perform a clean install of Windows Vista and then reinstall your existing files settings and programs unless you are upgrading from Windows XP SP2 Home Media center edition or Windows Vista home basic."

I'm a little confused...I qualify for the educational edition, but I dont own a copy of windows XP. Will I be able to use the "upgrade" version?
