    Option to remove iTunes gone

OK, may not be regarded as earth-shattering, but whereas previously although the Apple Software Update forced an install of iTunes if you installed QuickTime, you could remove it separately via Add/Remove Programs, that option has gone with the update to QT 7.2. Be warned!
    Smack Steve!

Yep, that's been standard for a while now, but even if you choose the one without, when you get the auto-update, you STILL get iTunes.

Is quick alternative a legal sollution?

luckily the quick time codec dosen't seam to be used by much outside the apple world (what is it about restrictive priopretry formats that prevents mass adaption, unless its microsoft, or germans that is).

QT Alternative's pretty much been shut down although you can probably find a site still hosting the last version, 1.81. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quicktime_Alternative
