ermmmmm is there a way to turn how it looks back to the classic office look over this new fangel look ?
I've been given the unenvious task of testing office 2k7 before we deploy it and tbh i can not recommend it currently due to the way it looks![]()
I've just finished rolling out office 2007 and apart from a few "Where has the button for X gone?" questions it's been absolutely fine. I included the save as PDF add-in and it has been very useful for our staff.
The only thing is the default file format is xlsx which is not compatible with older version so you might want to set the default to .xls with a GPO until the deployment is finished.

Can anyone tell me what are the latest features in it ????

I prefer 2003 tbh but am forcing myself to learn 07 as it is the new standard at work and uni. Its when you try to do some function and you're like, uhhh, where is it?
I agree with Hex and the others when I say that 2007 is very good on the whole. Yes the new interface is different and takes a little getting used to, but trust us when we say it's not worse, it's much better, just different. Take the time to figure it out.
Also the help is pretty good, so if you can't find a function you're used to just by looking, a quick search will reveal it.To be honest, there aren't many (if any) new features to shout about, but then there weren't really new features in office 2003 or 2000 either, which is why Open Office caught up so well. Personally I can't wait for Open Office to copy the new interface (I still use OOo at home) , although I might be considered a traitor for saying that.
Also, Outlook 2007 (apart from the poor rendering of HTML / CSS emails by the word engine) is much nicer than 2003. Proper search (MS bought up the company that made the Lookout search plugin) Categories vaguely a-la Gmail, and a general spit and polish all over. Again, I'm looking forward to the calendars from the Mozilla project maturing so I can run my home life from Thunderbird like I run my work life from Outlook.
They told me I was gullible ... and I believed them.
did see torrent about while ago that put the meus back too like in 2003/97 look
dont recall where mind![]()
It really is a better interface, MS have the ability too spend millions on user research (as a developer who read up on the 'ribbon design guidelines' its apparent they have!) and throw it away without even thinking. They would only keep it if it genuinely seamed better (often this is focus group + expert based).
I used this interface in an App i wrote for one of our more illiterate users. They love the ribbon, after i hasen to add, a nasty peroid of words thrown about how too find things.
It really does work well once the inital learning curve has been overcome.
If only bloomberg and Reuters support excel, if only MS had made a proper interface for Real Time Data..... idoits, or a proper .net API rather than some horrid wraped com thing. Thats what too moan about imo.
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
I think my main gripe is that I'm used to office 03 and it was very similar to previous versions so there was no extra learning, just new features. With 07 really you almost need to learn over again, so for the time being I'm much more productive using 03![]()
I wouldn't mind the new interface if it didn't use cleartype.
