Yes, as a rule.. Unless the board is very similar (same chipset) or identical, it'll cause issues, usually BSODs![]()

Always a good idea to do a full format. Makes for a better running PC. This is what most of us do.
I've transferred drives between PCs loads of times wtihout a format. A few drivers needed to be installed but I've never had any major problems. Having said that, I always end up formatting the drive once all the necessary backups are performed.
Not needed, but a good idea.

if you reboot to a blue screen when u do the swop then all you need is a windows repair.
format and fresh install if you can though !
