    Angry MSN Messenger

I know this might sound quite trivial but I'm quite annoyed at this. There's a few questions here, not sure if they need different threads.

Is there anyway to stop messenger from opening up Internet Explorer when I click my email as I want it to open Firefox?

Is there any way of totally uninstalling internet explorer?

Does anyone know of any alternatives that are as good as Messenger live that I can use for IM with all my hotmail contacts?

    Thanks for help.

Pidgin is a cross IM client which is pretty good...

I've heard good things about trillian too.

Thing to bear in mind with these cross IM clients is that they have to be a jack of all trades, so things aren't quite the same as with messenger, or with icq, etc.
