Nero Drivespeed (standalone) for Vista ??

i want drivespeed on my Vista HTPC as the DVD spin speed is unacceptably loud without it. Trouble is the only available standalone version of Nero Drivespeed (3.00) on the web is not Vista compatible.
The newest version of Nero bundles the working version of drivespeed, but all I want is drivespeed itself not all the other carp that Nero bundle.
Does anyone know how to 'extract' drivespeed from the Nero bundle and make it work standalone, or a link to the latest drivespeed would be even better.
Failing that another piece of freeware that does the same thing would be cool too

For those that don't know, drivespeed allows you to adjust the spin speed of your CD/DVD drive.

    Thanks

No, sorry dude - that tool checks the speed of drives, it does not slow the spin speed down, which is what I'm after.......

I tried the same thing - grabbed the drivespeed.exe file from a Nero install, but it won't work standalone - it seems to need various DLLs.........did you get it working without installing it via Nero setup ?
