    Question can somebody explain this............

hi folks, i'm having a little problem playing some of my games, it started the other day when i tried to start medal of honour pacific assault, i inserted the dvd rom and selected play game from the menu, but i got a message up saying it cant detect the disk, i thought it was a bit weird so i re-installed but it did the same. so i cracked it using a no-dvd crack and it worked, now the same thing is happning with my tiger woods game, i put the disk in the drive but when i try and start the game a message says it cant locate the disk, what is going on????? it's drivin me mad. these are original games, is there a bug in my system or something???? plz can anybody shine some light on this. thanks.

and did you install the game with that drive as D at the time? (ie have you recently added or removed any drives, optical, hdd, or even card readers, that wouldhave changed the drive letters around?)

Those are both EA games right? Aren't EA still trying to force Starforce on us?

Might be worth taking a look at http://www.glop.org/starforce/

It won't be Starforce as the games mentioned are too old if EA are just starting to use it. I would try using another DVD drive if you can as it sounds to me like it could be the DVD drive thats faulty. Also have you tried a DVD cleaned and cleaning the DVD's. It could be having problems reading certain protection if the laser is going???

EA have been using it for a while, however on further inspection it seems that MOH: PA uses Safedisc rather than Starforce.

    Does http://www.opentechsupport.net/forum...ad.php?t=33955 help at all?

    Thats the answer
I run all my games through this, even the MP ones and all is great.....
Even BF2 runs fine on MP with it. (Daemon Tools)

Heh - I was pointing more at the forum post I linked - Seemingly whatever copy protection Tiger Woods has doesn't play happily if there is drive emulation software installed.

I've had exactly the same problem with the newest 1.05 patch of C&C 3, and the EA forums are a riot of people complaining about it. Even after uninstallation it still occured, I was still getting errors as Daemon tools was still being picked up as it left stuff in the registry, I gave up in the end and just stuck a NoCD crack over it as I wasn't gonna reinstall windows for 1 game.

Whoever started peddling starforce needs to have their reproductive organs removed, I don't want a bloody rootkit installed on my computer just to play games.
