Vista DUN Over HSDPA Mobile - Always Low Res?

    Hi All

I have my laptop connected to my Nokia N95 which is used with T-Mobile Web'n'walk plus via 3.5G or HSDPA.

When its connected I'm getting a pretty reasonable speed of about 0.7mbps (via bluetooth around 1.1mbps on USB)

Regardless of how I connect to the phone I always get low-resolution graphics delivered via the connection, and this is also regardless of the Browser that I am using, to rectify it I have to use CTRL+F5 to reload the page or Shift+R to reload the image, this then grabs the better image

Any way of disabling this? - is there a setting that I have missed that is causing it? Any ideas appreciated.

    Thanks

Hmmmm, could it be the sites are detecting you are connecting from a mobile phone and giving you the mobile version of the site? Or maybe the phone connects via a special proxy to deliver low res pictures ala google mobile page compression or equivalent. Not sure how to fix either mind...

No its not the mobile version. T-Mobile has a image compression system in place to reduce data transfer.

With the Dell 5505 HSDPA card built into the laptop it could be disabled. But with the phone I havent really looked into it. I am not concerned with the image degradation as I mainly tend to visit forums and sites where text content is what I am looking for. But there must be an option somewhere to disable it.

    Thanks folks.

I think it might be external to the computer like Sinizter says, when I connect via T-Mobile, I get an IP address like 10.1.9.18 but the IP address that websites see is completely different (comes up as being in Hatfield Hertfordshire a la T-Mobile UK HQ.) So it would look like there is some kind of proxy interface between the Mobile Network and the Internet that is causing it.

Its not a major hassle, if I want a hi-res pic I'll refresh the page and it comes down no problem. I thought that it might be because I was using Bluetooth as opposed the the USB cable. When using USB I get a much faster connection even though my Bluetooth Devices are both Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, the modem settings only allow a max speed of 490000bps (roughly) and the USB provices 1.5Mbps!

    Thanks for the reples.
