Windows media player is rubbish, winamp doesnt work apparently, so is there anything with similar functionality to winamp that is free, and not full of spyware and toolbars?
Thanks![]()

Foobar2000 works beautifully, the sound quality is incredible if you hook it up to 4Front EQ10. Very quick and dead easy to use, can't recommend it enough!

winamp works fine.
It is Inevitable.....
Running Winamp absolutely fine on Ultimate x64 here![]()
Thanks, Ill give foobar a try.
Winamp gives 100% cpu.
Did either of you get a warning when installing winamp that it isnt comatible with this version of windows?
I read the FAQs on the Winamp site, and it did mention many things are broke on Vista (DirectSound for a start, thumbs up Microsoft) and they were working on it.
What don't you like about WMP11 btw?.. I think it's a half decent player now. Given the choice I'd rather have Amarok and Kaffeine ported over from KDE though.

Cross Platform, so thats fine for Windows, Mac, Linux and it has 64-bit support
I just dont like the layout, and the equaliser is pants, it is sluggish, it crashes often, or just hangs while the music carries on, a bit like a rubbishey beta version
And I forgot to say that it uses 18% CPU for playing MP3, which for a quad core running at 3.2Ghz is a bit of a joke.
Ill try foobar now, and that eq plugin.
Edit: Is this the 4front eq that was mentioned?

Aha, foobar is working well, even without the EQ thing, and its only using 2% CPU, so thanks for that![]()
